In the past, I have always felt that we should share ideas when worth it. I put out some content I had come across in the past only to find that it got very little attention. This is something I want to try again. I want to make it a series and thought about calling it Great Ideas. I may change my mind about the title but I will put out content that I find interesting and think you should have. Anyway, here is the beginning with this great interview of Raoul Pal. Please read the paragraph below the video for more information.
In Episode 96 of Hidden Forces, Demetri Kofinas speaks with investor and co-founder of Real Vision, Raoul Pal about the future of global money in a multi-polar world, including a discussion about Bitcoin, Libra, debt, demographics, and much more.
The inspiration for this conversation derives from a theme captured in William Strauss and Neil Howe's Generational Theory, also known as the Fourth Turning, where the authors describe a four-stage cycle of social moods associated with recurring generational archetypes, which they call "turnings.” These include: "The High", "The Awakening", "The Unraveling," and "The Crisis." The question we explore in this conversation is: “are we at the fourth turning, and if so, what does this mean for the type of change we can expect to see in the coming decades?”
All of this leads to a discussion about digital currency in a multi-polar world where the power of governments to maintain the global order is diminished and where corporations and the private sector may gain an opening to provide alternative forms of money in support of global trade and commerce. Where does bitcoin fit in this world? What about alternative protocols and currencies? Will governments even allow them? Can they stop them or will they welcome them and does this point the way towards a path that will lead inexorably towards truly global money?
The recent financial crisis is another example in a long line of financial crises spanning many decades. A common theme in all these crises has been the same mistakes time and time again. Mistakes have come about through a variety of issues such as market manipulation, government decisions, and yes, good old-fashioned fear and greed. Financial loses abound, money was created but not destroyed; it merely got transferred. Most never see the crisis coming but the signs are always in the “tea leaves”. In other words, there are always variables indicating the coming crisis. Wouldn’t you just love to recognize those signs? Isn’t this something everyone should aim for?
It is time for just that to happen with a book that all can understand and follow: “The Age of Anomaly: Spotting Financial Storms in a Sea of Uncertainty” by Andrei Polgar. Do not expect this book to tell you when the next financial crisis will be. No one knows when! What this book will give you is a lesson in financial history. From the Tulip Mania that drove the Dutch crazy to the 2007 – 2008 financial crisis. This book will also explain to you how to spot coming financial storms. I would love to elaborate but I better not, you must read for yourself. The author is also aware of the stresses of a lack of financial muscle. He discusses how to be resilient in such crisis. Are you still interested? If so purchase the book.
By the way, for purchasing the book, you have a chance to win 1 Bitcoin. Yes, Bitcoin! See link below for instructions on how to enter here. In addition, the chance to win bitcoin ends on August 12, so hurry now for your chance.
